TYSONS, VA (October 3, 2019) — Tysons Partnership announced that its fourth annual Tysons Cares Season of Giving campaign raised over $60,000 in total donations throughout a month-long series of community events and fundraising initiatives. Proceeds from the campaign were distributed to local nonprofit and charity organizations supporting food, shelter and clothing initiatives, including Food for Others and Second Story.
The 2019 campaign was highlighted by Tysons Tailgate, the Partnership’s annual tailgate-themed public fundraising event, which brought over 1,000 people to the Valo Park campus in Tysons. Event proceeds generated from ticket sales and funds raised through raffle drawings benefitted Second Story, a local youth homeless shelter.
“Tysons Partnership continues to lead the way in bringing the Tysons community together,” said Jade Leedham, Vice President of Development as Second Story. “For the past four years, Tysons Tailgate provided a unique platform for Second Story to raise awareness about its mission in the Tysons area, and we are grateful for this partnership. Seeing how much this event has grown since the first one in 2016, I know the tailgate will continue to be one of the most impactful and anticipated events in our community for years to come.”
The Tailgate was attended by several local community leaders, including Fairfax County Board of Supervisors John Foust and Kathy Hudgins.
“One thing that is especially great about what Tysons Partnership is doing to create a sense of community in Tysons is that they are doing it by bringing us together to have fun while supporting important charitable causes,” said Supervisor Foust in his address to attendees of the Tailgate. “I love what is happening in Tysons and I love the fact that, through events like [the Tailgate], we are creating a community where people will want to live, work and play.”
