Tysons Partnership in the Community: Supporting the “Training Futures” Class of 2022

Training Futures is a Tysons-based, nationally recognized workforce development program providing training for living-wage professional careers. The organization offers an innovative curriculum in a simulated office environment with two primary goals: 1) to help under- and unemployed adults secure professional careers with potential for advancement, and 2) to meet the needs of local employers who seek qualified, entry-level workers.

On April 12th, Tysons Partnership members volunteered to meet virtually with the Training Futures Class of 2022. The event offered a unique opportunity for the volunteers to meet and network with class participants as they practiced networking and interviewing skills to help them in their journey to pursue living-wage, professional careers.

Hillary Zahm, Vice President of Development for Macerich and Tysons Partnership board member who volunteered at the event saw a lot of value in the program, stating, “I was so impressed with the group of trainees committed to creating opportunities for their futures. Meeting and talking with the trainees was inspirational. I am grateful for this opportunity provided by the Tysons Partnership and Northern Virginia Family Services. The networking session with the trainees and Tysons Partnership provided an ideal forum for both groups. Representatives from the Tysons Partnership learned about the Training Futures program and had the opportunity to meet with trainees and hear about their experiences. Trainees benefited from insight, advice, and the opportunity to try out their networking/interview skills with leaders in Tysons.”

Zahm also noted, “Each person I met with noted the value of the NVFS Training Futures program. Not only does this program provide trainees with skills, but participation in Training Futures gives the trainees confidence to pursue new careers. It is so wonderful that Northern Virginia Family Services is offering this program and changing lives.”

Tysons Partnership will continue to look for opportunities to support the Training Futures program. Our appreciation goes out to all those who participated in the April 12th event.
