About Us

Meet TCA

The Tysons Community Alliance (TCA) is an independent, non-profit community improvement organization committed to the ongoing transformation of Tysons, Virginia, into a vibrant, inclusive, globally attractive urban center.

Who We Are

Composed of representatives from a wide array of stakeholder groups, TCA is committed to being a trusted, honest broker of relationships and information. We work collaboratively to bring all sectors together, seeking to identify gaps and needs, while employing smart strategies to provide innovative solutions.

Telling the Tysons Story

Innovative Communications and Branding approaches and initiatives will help to establish a clear identity, highlighting benefits and points of differentiation.

Activating the Public Realm

Designing and executing events that activate public and private spaces provides advantages to showcase Placemaking and Place Management. We prioritize a collaborative approach that encourages stakeholders to organize collective events. In addition, we work with landlords to generate creative, transitional use for vacant retail spaces.

Enhancing Mobility

We support initiatives and technologies that improve and promote mobility and connectivity. By bringing together key representatives in the public and private sectors, we help advance capital projects and services that support increased access and safety. Through communications and programming, we work to maximize the awareness and use of transportation investments.

Supporting Inclusive Economic Growth

TCA provides energetic support to promote business development and ensure a climate that welcomes inclusion and diversity. Our efforts cover the Research and Planning spectrum, including aggregating economic data, producing market reports and collaborating with brokers. Tysons has risen to prominence as a major retail destination in the D.C metro area. It continues to be a place that attracts shoppers from across the region and the U.S. Between 2010 and 2020, retail inventory grew by 5.5% and rents grew 80%, while vacancy rates remained low. Such is the enduring strength of Tysons as a locale geared for retail success while vacancy rates remained low.

An Equitable, Diverse Community

Through our collaboration with Fairfax County, TCA is proudly committed to the adoption of the “One Fairfax” plan, adopted in November 2017, as a guiding principle of our work in advancing Tysons as an inclusive, transit-oriented, high-density urban center. One Fairfax serves as an explicit foundation for the incorporation and advancement of racial and social equity goals across all Fairfax County initiatives.

In accordance with our collaboration with Fairfax County and our adoption of the “One Fairfax” plan, TCA upholds the principles of equity and inclusion and deems them as essential cornerstones of an economically and socially thriving community.
